The issue you didn’t know you had: SuperSix for cleaning industrial machinery
We’ll let you in on a secret: if your production line is used to mix chemical additives for cleaning industrial machinery, at some point it is highly likely that you will have a problem, even if you don’t know it yet. Maybe the machines work well and the operators know exactly what to do and when to do it, but still you have a problem.
The problem – or ‘mishap’ as we call technical and other obstacles – is that you are not optimising your industrial processes. Put another way: you are wasting human, time and economic resources that you could be investing in a more profitable way for your company.
Here’s how we can help you solve this situation with SuperSix, a solution designed for tissue converting but designed to handle different types of fluids, and therefore perfectly adaptable to other sectors as well.
What is SuperSix and what problems does it solve?
SuperSix is the mixing plant designed to automate the food-grade glue dilution process, making it more precise, faster, efficient and sustainable. With SuperSix, you simply set the recipe in the PLC and let the machine draw, weigh and mix the glue or any other substance that needs to be prepared for use.
The advantages are manifold and solve as many mishaps that you may never have considered:
- did you know that human errors seriously impact the cost of production? NIST (the National Institute of Standards and Technology) has calculated that they can lead to production waste and reprocessing costing between 5% and 30% of total production costs. Think how many mistakes you can avoid (and therefore how much money you could save) just by entrusting manual operations to technology;
- try to quantify the amount of time lost by your operators between picking, transporting, measuring and mixing: we, for a medium-sized company, estimated it at one and a half hours of inefficiency per day. All wasted time that could be better occupied;
- but let’s go further, let’s talk about safety: replacing man with machine for repetitive tasks such as these also means greatly reducing the risk of accidents and injuries and improving the working conditions of operators;
- and that’s not all: what happens to the product – glue or other compound – that is not used? It is probably thrown away or disposed of: hence, once again, a loss of money.
Solving industrial fluid handling problems is our business, but with SuperSix we have taken it a step further, we have even prevented them. And not only for the tissue converting industry.
Beyond tissue converting: 3 possible applications of SuperSix for mixing chemicals
Although it was originally designed to meet a specific need, SuperSix has one great quality on its side: it is extremely versatile. So much so that our designers have already imagined a number of possible uses, compatible with plant operation and industrial application in different areas.
The food industry
An example? It can be used for mixing concentrated acid solutions (such as citric acid and lactic acid) for the cleaning and disinfection of machinery used in product preparation, such as dough vats.
Needless to say, the main benefit here is related to the increased safety of workplaces and operators who are exempt from handling these highly corrosive substances.
And, as always when it comes to Movingfluid, there’s more: most of the components of SuperSix that come into contact with the fluid are already FDA-certified (the authorisation issued by the US Food and Drug Administration) or can be configured to obtain it.
The chemical industry
SuperSix can also be extremely beneficial for the chemical industry. In fact, one of our recent projects involves the use of the system to clean tanks dedicated to the preparation of resins for the construction industry.
How? In two ways:
- the operator starts the automatic preparation of the detergent mixture by opening the recipe on the monitor, pre-set according to the parameters indicated by the manufacturer. Once ready, he/she sends the solution to the relevant department for washing;
- or, SuperSix can be added into the production line and communicate with the rest of the system. Thus, when the washing program is opened, it is automatically activated for preparation and subsequent steps.
An important reduction in time (and therefore also in costs), in both cases.
Water treatment
Water treatment covers a rather wide spectrum of processes and needs, yet here too SuperSix offers more than one beneficial use.
It is the ideal system for pH correction prior to the discharge of water: a need that is common to different businesses, such as agricultural industries, nurseries and companies that have to deal with – for example – large-scale irrigation.
But SuperSix is also the perfect ally for the preparation of mixtures intended for the sanitisation of purification and drinking water systems and, in general, for all plant engineering that needs to be de-scaled and decalcified cyclically in order to function well.
This is because it has very high levels of mixing precision: an essential aspect for those who have to meet stringent environmental risk criteria and avoid penalties or worse.
Turn problems into opportunities with SuperSix
But how can a system designed for one sector adapt so well to other uses? Movingfluid’s strength is precisely this: being able to imagine and realise vertical solutions capable of simultaneously responding to transversal needs.
The components of SuperSix are chemically compatible with the substances to be treated: based on experience gained with the ARO® pumps, we have already foreseen the possibility of replacing the aluminium sampling pump with a similar one made of a material suitable for chemical additives (stainless steel or plastic alloys), in order to guarantee tightness, resistance and maximum performance.
In addition, like all our projects, SuperSix can always be integrated and modified as required. Not surprisingly, it saved up to 20,000 Euro in other industries!
Perhaps at the beginning of this article changing your production set-up by introducing an automatic mixing system was not your priority, but now that you are here you will certainly have realised the concrete value of a solution like this which, among other things, saves you money to invest in something else. So why wait?
